Mary Lou Stanton has been a lifelong member of COGOP, serving in numerous roles, including Women's Ministry Director in Rockville, Maryland, and co-director of the Women's Ministry at Lynnhaven Community Church. She also holds the position of Church Treasurer, a role she has fulfilled since 2018. Ms. Stanton has been on the Church Board as Secretary and Treasurer and played a key role in establishing Hidden Treasures Christian Preschool in 1988.
Professionally, Ms. Stanton dedicated 42 years to the US Federal Government, culminating as Deputy Director of Indian Health Policy at the Indian Health Service, Department of Health & Human Services, in Washington, DC. She has been a clinic director and hospital director, earning numerous accolades, including the Agency's Superior Excellence Award and the Arizona Outstanding Native American Leader award in 1996.
Ms. Stanton holds a BA in Management, has completed studies at the Federal Executive Institute, and received Professional Certification from the Academy of Health Care Management. Her life's mission has been to embody Christian values, striving for those around her to see her unwavering faith and as a beacon of Christ’s love.
An avid traveler, Ms. Stanton has visited several foreign countries and all fifty U.S. states. She is a proud member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribe and annually participates in a mission trip to her reservation. Her greatest joy is spending time with her family.
